July 9 – National Sugar Cookie Day

Today is National Sugar Cookie Day

Each year on July 9th is a holiday called National Sugar Cookie Day. This is one holiday we all enjoy celebrating, as all a proper celebration requires is the devouring of a sweet sugar cookie of any variety.

Of course, eating sugar cookies is not the only way to celebrate this special occasion. One of the reasons sugar cookies are popular is that they are “blank canvasses,” and may be decorated in any way you desire. National Sugar Cookie Day provides an opportunity to spend time with family or friends baking cookies and then embellishing them with frosting, sprinkles, candy or whatever else you like. 1

You may choose to celebrate National Sugar Cookie Day by simply sending a basket of cookies to a friend, or biting into a cookie at home, or you may wish to throw a sugar cookie party/exchange with friends or family members.
