Today is National Boston Cream Pie Day
Boston Cream Pie was created in 1856 by French Chef M. Sanzian at Boston’s Parker House Hotel. Boston Cream Pie is not an actual pie, it’s a custard/cake combination comprised of two layers of sponge cake filled with vanilla custard. The cake is topped with a chocolate glaze.
Boston Cream Pie has become a favorite dessert item in restaurants and households nationwide. It was actually good enough to be named the official dessert of Massachusetts.
