October 29 – National Oatmeal Day

It’s National Oatmeal Day!

I don’t remember eating a lot of oatmeal as a kid. I don’t even eat a lot of oatmeal now. I know it’s healthy and I should. It’s filling and low in calories and makes the perfect breakfast or snack food, it’s also delicious baked in cookies.

The mascot for the Quaker Oats Company is The Quaker Man. He is the oldest advertising mascot in America. He was registered as the first trademark for a breakfast cereal in 1877. The character purposely embodies the values of the Quaker faith—honesty, integrity, and purity. Enjoy National Oatmeal Day and celebrate its history and tastiness!
