In Memory of 9/11……Never Forget

On September 17, 2001, before the first Cardinals game at Busch Stadium since the September 11th attacks, Jack Buck delivered an emotional speech.
9/11 Poem

Since this nation was founded under God,
more than 200 years ago,
we’ve been the bastion of freedom . . .
The light which keeps the free world aglow.

We do not covet the possessions of others,
we are blessed with the bounty we share.
We have rushed to help other nations . . .
Anything . . . Anytime . . . Anywhere.

War is just not our nature . . .
We won’t start, but we will end the fight.
If we are involved,
we shall be resolved,
to protect what we know is right.

We’ve been challenged by a cowardly foe,
who strikes and then hides from our view.
With one voice, we say there’s no choice today,
there is only one thing to do.

Everyone is saying the same thing,
and praying that we end these senseless moments we are living.
As our fathers did before, we shall win this unwanted war.
as our children will enjoy the future we’ll be giving.

– Jack Buck

August 20 – Daily Motivation – Quotes About Life – Inspirational Quotes

Seize the challenges

You have survived every single challenge that has come your way. And when you look back on the things you’ve done, it is clear that not only have you survived those challenges, they have caused you to learn, to grow, to become stronger.

Challenge is difficult, and it is valuable as well. Challenge can energize. Challenge can focus. Challenge can turn mere passing interest into rock solid commitment. It can turn mediocre into exceptional. In the long run, challenge pays off with big rewards.

One of the surest ways to move your life forward is through challenge. Sometimes the challenges are forced upon you. But you don’t have to wait for challenges to come your way.

Seek out challenges for the value they offer. Improve the quality of your life by increasing the level of your challenges. You’ve already made it through a lifetime of challenges. Continue to find more that will move you ahead and compel you to become even stronger. Seize the challenges and you’ll grasp your dreams.

August 11 – Daily Motivation – Quotes About Life – Inspirational Quotes

Effort makes the difference

Daily Motivation, Quates About Life, Inspirational Quotes, Motivational QuotesIn order to create the product, you must go through the process. Yes, the result is very important, yet without sustained effort there is not going to be a result.

By all means, focus on what you desire to create. And then with your focus firmly fixed, get busy and make the effort.

The value of any achievement cannot be separated from the process of achievement. Working through that process is what makes the achievement worth having.

The dreams and goals set the direction. And then it is the effort that makes it all happen.

Effort is what makes the difference. And that is what makes effort such a substantive and authentic joy.

Welcome the process, welcome the effort, and welcome the price that is paid with your action. By paying that price you receive value that can never be taken away.

June 24 – Daily Motivation – Quotes About Life – Inspirational Quotes

Appreciate the challenges

Accomplishment requires effort, and effort requires resistance. Without challenges and obstacles standing in your way, it would be impossible to achieve anything. If there was nothing to impede you, everything worth doing would have already been done. And where would be the joy in a world such as that?

Success is a process, not a static state. If you’re making headway against the obstacles, you are successful. The greater the challenges, the greater the potential for fulfillment.

The persistence and effort which go into any accomplishment, serve to distinguish and substantiate it. The longer and more assiduously you work on something, the more securely it is yours. Appreciate the challenges. They make success meaningful, and possible.

What You Must Do

What you have to do today is not a burden. It is a blessing.

It is your opportunity to make a difference. It is your opportunity to create value.

Because of what you must do today, you will learn and you will grow. You’ll strengthen your skills and have the chance to improve your effectiveness.

True fulfillment does not come from having things easy. It will come when you positively and enthusiastically work through each challenge.

Be thankful for the work you must do, whatever it may be. Choose to make that work a positive expression of the best of who you are.

Stand up, step forward and get busy. Enjoy bringing to life the unique value that is yours to create.

June 21 – Daily Motivation – Quotes About Life – Inspirational Quotes

The smallest changes

The smallest changes can make the biggest difference. Because the smallest changes are the ones you can repeat over and over again.

The once-in-a-lifetime events are indeed impressive, and they certainly command your attention. Yet the routine, once-a-day actions can have a far greater impact because they are done again and again.

Every few seconds, for example, you take a breath of air, and rarely do you ever even think about doing it. Yet this small, regularly repeated action literally sustains your life and makes all your other activities possible.

When you want to make it big, think small. Find the small, easily accomplished actions that will steadily take you to your most ambitious goals.

The biggest problems will almost always yield to the smallest changes. Because the smallest changes can be overwhelmingly relentless, like tiny drops of rain wearing away the most massive boulder.

When you seek a big result, start with the small changes. They are the ones that will most reliably get you there.

In honor of all fathers everywhere,

especially mine.

A Father’s Love

A father is respected because
he gives his children leadership…
appreciated because
he gives his children care…
valued because
he gives his children time…
loved because
he gives his children the one thing
they treasure most – himself.

Approaching Each Day

I woke up early today, excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight. My job is to choose what kind of day I am going to have.

Today I can complain because the weather is rainy or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.

Today I can feel sad that I don’t have more money or I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my purchases wisely and guide me away from waste.

Today I can grumble about my health or I can rejoice that I am alive.

Today I can lament over all that my parents didn’t give me when I was growing up or I can feel grateful that they allowed me to be born.

Today I can cry because roses have thorns or I can celebrate that thorns have roses.

Today I can mourn my lack of friends or I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover new job relationships.

Today I can whine because I have to go to work or I can shout for joy because I have a job to go to!

Today I can complain because I have to go to school or eagerly open my mind and fill it with knowledge and adventure.

Today I can dejectedly murmur because I have housework to do or I can feel grateful for shelter for my mind, body and soul.

Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped, and here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping. What today will be like is up to me. And I shall decide what kind of day I shall have!”

How will you live THIS DAY?

June 13 – Daily Motivation – Quotes About Life – Inspirational Quotes

Last spring I was walking in a park. A short distance ahead of me was a mom and her three-year-old daughter. The little girl was holding on to a string that was attached to a helium balloon.

All of a sudden, a sharp gust of wind took the balloon from the little girl. I braced myself for some screaming and crying.

But, no! As the little girl turned to watch her balloon go skyward, she gleefully shouted out, “Wow!”

I didn’t realize it at that moment, but that little girl taught me something.

Later that day, I received a phone call from a person with news of an unexpected problem. I felt like responding with “Oh no, what should we do?” But remembering that little girl, I found myself saying, “Wow, that’s interesting! How can I help you?”

One thing’s for sure – life’s always going to keep us off balance with its unexpected problems. That’s a given. What’s not preordained is our response. We can choose to be frustrated or fascinated.

No matter what the situation, a fascinated “Wow!” will always beat a frustrated “Oh, no.”

So the next time you experience one of life’s unexpected gusts, remember that little girl and make it a “Wow!” experience. The “Wow!” response always works.
