November 29 – Electronic Greetings Day

Today is “Electronic Greetings Day”

Today is about sending e-cards to family and friends over the internet.

Aside from being free, e-cards also save the cost of a stamp and save the environment by sending them over the internet. Today is the perfect day to send an e-card to touch base with an old friend or catch up with your favorite relative, so send an e-card to let them know they’re on your mind.

Send a free e-card to family and friends today. Click this link and scroll to the bottom of the page, find “Connect to our friends” choose Egreetings.com and send your e-card(s). They are free so send as many as you like.

The Greeting Card Association offers these tips on avoiding e-card scams:

  • Only “click on a link in the e-mail message to collect or view your e-card” if you recognize the name or email address of the sender.
  • Delete email notifications for e-cards sent from a “friend” or “family member.”
  • Visit the e-card site by typing in the URL and using the “e-card pick up” instead of clicking through the link in the email.
  •

October 31 – Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone!

Kids look forward to this day and love to dress up in costume and go door to door to get candy, big surprise.

Trick or Treating should be one of the great adventures of Halloween for kids! Making your child’s Halloween fun and memorable will give them memories for a lifetime. Mom and Dad if you are accompanying the kids you should dress up as well. Get in the spirit, make the night more memorable.

Here are a few safety tips for the Trick or Treating:

1.) It’s unfortunate I have to even say this, but remind the kid’s not to eat any candy before inspected.

2.) Make sure the kids have a flashlight and/or reflective tape on their costume so they are visible to cars.

3.) Trick or Treat in a group if out without an adult.

4.) Make sure someone in the group has a cell phone.

5.) Plan a safe route so you know where the kids will be at all times.

6.) Remind the kids to stay in populated areas and not to cut through back alleys and fields.

Making your child’s Halloween fun and memorable will give them memories for a lifetime. Mom and Dad if you are accompanying the kids you should dress up as well. Get in the spirit, make the night more memorable.

5 Days til Halloween

For all you DIY’ers or last minute costume shoppers, I’ve put together this list of DIY costumes that can be done in a couple of hours over the weekend.

Instructions for some of these are not included due to being pretty self explanatory. I have added notes to some of the costumes.

1.) Lego Costume – Use either plastic cups or plastic bowls to tape to the box and spray paint

2.) Artist – This one could probably be done in an hour. Use a piece of card board cut out as an artist pallet, different colors of paint, ribbon and paint brush.

3.) Will Work for Candy – Use old clothes, a piece of a cardboard box for sign and face paint for beard.

4.) MP3 Player – Pretty self explanatory

5.) Bat – I love this one. It’s more complicated then the above costumes so here is the link to the website for instructions.

October 25 – World Pasta Day

Today is World Pasta Day!

A day dedicated to highlighting the nutritional and culinary advantages of pasta. This special day began in Rome in 1995 and is recognized around the world.

I LOVE pasta and don’t need a special day for it. I eat it at least 6 times a month, most of us don’t need a special day we just slurp it up, yummy.

Pasta is popular worldwide for Italian dishes, not to mention VERY economical when you’re on a tight budget. I’ve used it for various dishes I’ve made like cold pasta salads, various hot pasta meals, Halloween pasta dinners, you get the picture.

Just had to add one more recipe. I used to eat this a lot for breakfast, I know it says dinner but ya know, when we had leftover angel hair pasta. It’s very inexpensive to make, especially if you can get the ingredients on sale. If I made it now I would have to manipulate it to bring the sodium content down under 300. I’d probably delete the milk and used water or soy milk.

There are so many wonderful and healthy dishes you can make with pasta. It’s only left up to your imagination. So make a BIG bowl to share with someone and cozy up on the couch and watch a movie. 🙂

If you’d like post your favorite pasta dish with a recipe in the comments section.

The hunt is on…..

Just couldn’t let these go by without sharing them with all of you.

These are free ebooks from Amazon. They don’t stay free for very long, get them before they’re gone.

If you don’t have a tablet you can download the kindle app to your computer to be able to read ebooks.

These 2 books should help with Halloween. I’ll be looking for Thanksgiving and Christmas to share as well.
