Summer’s coming and this would be a great utensil to have. I found this and thought it was so inventive and useful.

July 29 – National Chicken Wing Day

 
There are over a billion chicken wings consumed each year. Yummy!!

In 1977 Chicken Wings received their own day in Buffalo, New York when then Buffalo Mayor Stan Makowski proclaimed July 29 as National Chicken Wing Day. Thousands of pounds of chicken wings are consumed each week in Buffalo and around the world. [1]

Chicken Wings are prepared in a couple of different ways:

  • Hot wings are covered in a vinegar-based cayenne pepper sauce
  • Buffalo-style chicken wing sauce is composed of a vinegar-based cayenne pepper hot sauce and butter
  •  
    Both are traditionally served with celery sticks and blue cheese dressing or ranch dressing.

    This is the recipes I used when I made my first batch of chicken wings. Enjoy the recipe!
     
    INGREDIENTS:

    1/2 pound butter, melted
    Tabasco Sauce — see note
    salt and pepper, to taste
    chicken wings
    celery sticks
    blue cheese or ranch salad dressing

    DIRECTIONS:

    Cut off wing tips and save for stock. Combine melted butter, Tabasco and salt and pepper. Divide the mixture, one part for raw wings and the other part for cooked wings. Coat raw wings in Tabasco mixture. Deep fry until golden and crisp on the outside, then coat cooked wings in Tabasco mixture again. Serve hot with celery sticks and blue cheese or ranch dressing.

    Note: use Tabasco sauce to taste, anywhere from 1/4 bottle to the whole bottle depending on the durability of your taste buds!
