May 27 – A Memorial Poem

memorial-day1

This prayer caught my eye. A little 3rd grade boy wrote it in 2001. I liked it and just had to post it.

Memorial Day

I think about the people that fought in the wars,
some have died to keep us free.

I think about the men and women,
Who saved lives on land and at sea.

I look at the monuments,
In memory of the brave.

I help plant red flowers
At my grandfather’s grave.

At the parade, I see flags flying,
Red, white and blue.

I watch rows of different uniforms,
Navy, white and brown too.

The soldiers salute with pride.

Memorial Day remembers and honors
those who have died.

Don’t forget the true meaning of this weekend.

I never ask the people who look at my blog to pass a post along to others, but in this case please do so.

Everyone needs to remember why we have BBQ’s and get together with families on this weekend.
This is important. Remember to love your family while you have them.

Please pass it along.

August 20 – Daily Motivation – Quotes About Life – Inspirational Quotes

Seize the challenges

You have survived every single challenge that has come your way. And when you look back on the things you’ve done, it is clear that not only have you survived those challenges, they have caused you to learn, to grow, to become stronger.

Challenge is difficult, and it is valuable as well. Challenge can energize. Challenge can focus. Challenge can turn mere passing interest into rock solid commitment. It can turn mediocre into exceptional. In the long run, challenge pays off with big rewards.

One of the surest ways to move your life forward is through challenge. Sometimes the challenges are forced upon you. But you don’t have to wait for challenges to come your way.

Seek out challenges for the value they offer. Improve the quality of your life by increasing the level of your challenges. You’ve already made it through a lifetime of challenges. Continue to find more that will move you ahead and compel you to become even stronger. Seize the challenges and you’ll grasp your dreams.

August 11 – Daily Motivation – Quotes About Life – Inspirational Quotes

Effort makes the difference

Daily Motivation, Quates About Life, Inspirational Quotes, Motivational QuotesIn order to create the product, you must go through the process. Yes, the result is very important, yet without sustained effort there is not going to be a result.

By all means, focus on what you desire to create. And then with your focus firmly fixed, get busy and make the effort.

The value of any achievement cannot be separated from the process of achievement. Working through that process is what makes the achievement worth having.

The dreams and goals set the direction. And then it is the effort that makes it all happen.

Effort is what makes the difference. And that is what makes effort such a substantive and authentic joy.

Welcome the process, welcome the effort, and welcome the price that is paid with your action. By paying that price you receive value that can never be taken away.

Father and Daughter Take A Walk Together Day

You’d be surprised at how many holidays are out there many people just don’t know about. For me Father and Daughter Take A Walk Day was one of them.

This day is special in the fact that fathers and daughters spend one-on-one quality time together. Walking, sharing thoughts and getting reacquainted can be meaningful to both.

In a lot of the homes the father is heading to work while the kids are running off to school then to daycare or camp or sports, etc. There’s not much time at the end of the day to talk. Leaving dad out of the loop with mom needing to fill him in on all the activities of the day.

Find places in your area to walk. It could be a park, a walk around the city, walking downtown to your local stores or just a walk around the block. There are many place to walk that fit your lifestyle.

Most fathers are a major influence in their daughters lives so take your father for a walk today it’s Father and Daughter Take a Walk Together Day.

Then after your walk take him to lunch to show him how much you appreciate him. Make sure to tell him how much you appreciate him and love him because he might know it, but it’s always good to hear it.

You don’t have to do the father-daughter walk on July 7, make a daily to walk a few times a week or just once a month if time is a factor. I caution you to make the time. Family time between a father and daughter is quality time that will never be forgotten.

June 24 – Daily Motivation – Quotes About Life – Inspirational Quotes

Appreciate the challenges

Accomplishment requires effort, and effort requires resistance. Without challenges and obstacles standing in your way, it would be impossible to achieve anything. If there was nothing to impede you, everything worth doing would have already been done. And where would be the joy in a world such as that?

Success is a process, not a static state. If you’re making headway against the obstacles, you are successful. The greater the challenges, the greater the potential for fulfillment.

The persistence and effort which go into any accomplishment, serve to distinguish and substantiate it. The longer and more assiduously you work on something, the more securely it is yours. Appreciate the challenges. They make success meaningful, and possible.

In honor of all fathers everywhere,

especially mine.

A Father’s Love

A father is respected because
he gives his children leadership…
appreciated because
he gives his children care…
valued because
he gives his children time…
loved because
he gives his children the one thing
they treasure most – himself.

June 14 – Daily Motivation – Quotes About Life – Inspirational Quotes

Approaching Each Day

I woke up early today, excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight. My job is to choose what kind of day I am going to have.

Today I can complain because the weather is rainy or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.

Today I can feel sad that I don’t have more money or I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my purchases wisely and guide me away from waste.

Today I can grumble about my health or I can rejoice that I am alive.

Today I can lament over all that my parents didn’t give me when I was growing up or I can feel grateful that they allowed me to be born.

Today I can cry because roses have thorns or I can celebrate that thorns have roses.

Today I can mourn my lack of friends or I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover new job relationships.

Today I can whine because I have to go to work or I can shout for joy because I have a job to go to!

Today I can complain because I have to go to school or eagerly open my mind and fill it with knowledge and adventure.

Today I can dejectedly murmur because I have housework to do or I can feel grateful for shelter for my mind, body and soul.

Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped, and here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping. What today will be like is up to me. And I shall decide what kind of day I shall have!”

How will you live THIS DAY?

June 13 – Daily Motivation – Quotes About Life – Inspirational Quotes

Last spring I was walking in a park. A short distance ahead of me was a mom and her three-year-old daughter. The little girl was holding on to a string that was attached to a helium balloon.

All of a sudden, a sharp gust of wind took the balloon from the little girl. I braced myself for some screaming and crying.

But, no! As the little girl turned to watch her balloon go skyward, she gleefully shouted out, “Wow!”

I didn’t realize it at that moment, but that little girl taught me something.

Later that day, I received a phone call from a person with news of an unexpected problem. I felt like responding with “Oh no, what should we do?” But remembering that little girl, I found myself saying, “Wow, that’s interesting! How can I help you?”

One thing’s for sure – life’s always going to keep us off balance with its unexpected problems. That’s a given. What’s not preordained is our response. We can choose to be frustrated or fascinated.

No matter what the situation, a fascinated “Wow!” will always beat a frustrated “Oh, no.”

So the next time you experience one of life’s unexpected gusts, remember that little girl and make it a “Wow!” experience. The “Wow!” response always works.

June 12 – Daily Motivation – Quotes About Life – Inspirational Quotes

The thoughts you choose

Where your mind lives is where your life is headed. What you think about most willingly, when you have nothing else you must think about, will define the direction of your life.

No matter what may be happening in the world outside of you, you have the power to choose your own thoughts. And the thoughts you choose can have an enormous impact.

When all is quiet, when the necessities of the day have been tended to, when your mind is free of any constraints, what kinds of things do you think about? The thoughts you have at such times, the thoughts you choose to think, are the thoughts that will show you who you truly are.

Steer those thoughts away from anger, limitation, worry and envy. Direct your mind toward thoughts of love, possibility, confidence, abundance and generosity.

Whatever may be going on in the outside world, your mind can live precisely where you choose for it to live. Choose to let it live in an empowering, life-affirming, rich and creative place.

Choosing the life you want begins with choosing the thoughts that will direct you to it. Those thoughts are yours to choose this very moment.
