June 17 – Daily Motivation – Quotes About Life – Inspirational Quotes

In honor of all fathers everywhere,

especially mine.

A Father’s Love
A father is respected because
he gives his children leadership…
appreciated because
he gives his children care…
valued because
he gives his children time…
loved because
he gives his children the one thing
they treasure most – himself.

June 17 – Happy Father’s Day

Today is Father’s Day!

This holiday is celebrated annually, in the United States, on the third Sunday in June.

Father’s Day is to recognize the contribution that fathers and father figures make to the lives of their children and celebrate fatherhood.

A holiday honoring fathers did not become official until 1966, when President Lyndon Johnson declared that the third Sunday in June would be Father’s Day. President Richard Nixon made this proclamation permanent in 1972. [1]

This holiday is usually spent visiting fathers. Some people send cards, flowers, fruit baskets or clothing, just to name a few, to their fathers. Father figures can include fathers, step-fathers, fathers-in-law, grandfathers, great-grandfathers and even other male relatives.

Traditions are a great thing to have in a family. They keep a family bonded and close. My families tradition for Father’s Day is usually a BBQ and spending the day with my dad. Letting him relax and we do all the cooking and serving.
